ROLLED Develops Flexible OLED
Posted on Dec 11, 08 08:04 AM PDT

ROLLED, an EU-funded project, has successfully developed a flexible OLED (organic light emitting diode) light source which could potentially revolutionize the packaging industry. It relies on roll-to-roll printing technology that makes mass production of the flexible OLED element possible. The element itself is enclosed in a moisture barrier film, featuring the thickness of 200-250 micrometres - which is roughly the equivalent of 3 or 4 sheets of paper. Well, we would like to see such futuristic packaging in due time, but is it more environmentally friendly? That's the billion dollar question.
