Street Fighter IV Arcade Sticks In The Works

Published on 12/ 4/2008

You don't know how many quarters that the Street Fighter franchise has swallowed over the years, and after getting 3D beat-em ups for a fair number of years now, it is nice to see the genre move back to its 2D roots with Street Fighter IV. Mad Catz, the game peripheral manufacturer, is preparing itself to further increase your enjoyment of this title at home by working on official SF IV arcade sticks. The aptly named "Official Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition controller" won't come cheap though, costing you a dragon punching $149.99. It is said to feature the same Sanwa joystick and 30mm buttons that can be found in official Street Fighter IV arcade machines, complete with realistic spacing and an eight-button layout. For those who have smaller (fire)balls like Dan can always settle for the Sanwa joystick which is priced at $69.99. If you don't mind getting blisters on your thumb, then you can always use the money saved to purchase plasters by picking up the $39.99 wireless Fightpad that comes with a circular 8-way floating D-Pad and a classic six-button layout.
