Vlingo Offers Voice Controls For iPhone
Posted on Dec 4, 08 09:47 AM PDT

Want to prove to the world that your iPhone is really so "smart" that it is able to obey voice commands? Well, this is where Vlingo for the iPhone comes in. This free application via the App Store allows you to speak into your iPhone whenever you want to perform a specific task, including searching for contacts, calling friends, accessing Google Maps and even sending status updates for social networking sites like Facebook and services like Twitter. Of course, it remains to be seen whether non-native English speakers will have trouble with the voice recognition software, but there is nothing quite like practice to get the whole thing down pat. Hopefully it won't suffer from the same problems experienced by Brain Age on the Nintendo DS when it comes to recognizing colors like Blue and Yellow.
