Zvox Releases Z-Base 550 Home Theater Surround System

Zvox has rolled out its latest Z-Base 550 home theater surround sound system that crams virtually everything ranging from amplifiers, speakers, subwoofer and sound processing hardware into a single cabinet that functions as the base for a free-standing flat-panel TV. The box itself measures 3" tall, and inside it holds five 2" speakers as well as a 5.25" subwoofer that purportedly is able to deliver virtual surround sound courtesy of Zvox's very own PhaseCue software. You won't get too much a thump with the Z-Base 550, but it ought to be enough for cozy apartments with a total system power of 60W. At the top of the Z-Base 550, you will find it covered with scratch-resistant black vinyl for added durability, while the cabinet is good for TVs up to 90lbs in weight - that's roughly 47" sets. You won't have to fork out more than half a grand for the Zvox Z-Base 550.
