Alienware is more like the epitome of performance, while Adamo remains at the top of the design and craftsmanship experience. Both Alienware and Adamo's technologies will ultimately trickle down to the rest of Dell's hardware, offering the best of design and performance into everyday products. To put things simply, it is like Formula 1. Ferrari brings their experience on the race track to their normal super exotics, as with Toyota using Formula 1 as a platform to implement tried and tested technology there in their sedans and family vehicles ultimately.

Adamo will be classified under the luxury product umbrella as a no-compromise notebook, and not a netbook.

Sorry, Adamo is Latin for "to fall in love with" - my bad.

Will netbooks cannibalize their notebook line? Chances are they can live together peacefully, with the netbook being a companion product in certain places, while in other countries it might be used as a primary computing product. Michael thinks it is a wee bit early to come to a conclusion that netbooks will cannibalize notebook sales figures.

How will Dell distinguish between the Adamo and XPS line, since both are pretty much Dell's luxury lines.
XPS is a modifier to the brand and not a brand by itself, so we might see an Adamo XPS in the future as well. Now that'd be neat.

The Wasabi photo printer will be out in the first half of 2009 actually, but Michael did interject that it will be released pretty soon. Pricing details have yet to be divulged, and it will be in the same class of other portable photo printers albeit using a different technology.
As for the Dell Adamo, it will probably be available in retail channels as well as within their traditional online store.

Guess the let-down feeling without any specifications apart from precision luxury, craftsmanship, design (anodized aluminum) and high performance as the only adjectives describing the Dell Adamo is somewhat like having a hot chick wave in your direction with a come hither look, only to have you realize that she was waving to that hunk behind you.

Dell will be offering the Adamo in the first half of 2009.

The Dell Adamo is super slim, and the entire notebook is just so slim. This will be the new luxury franchise in the new Dell lineup. It comes with a half-and-half front cover, and I'm guessing that it will be a fingerprint magnet coupled with a chrome silver finish. Everything is just black - projecting a businesslike performance and look that won't compromise on performance. Unfortunately, Michael has allowed let us take photos of it and has not released further specifications on it.

Designer Alex is now up front to share the stage with Michael. They are talking about Dell's Touch interface, additional expansion of personalization across all their product lines, so expect desktops from Dell to look even more chic this year.
Dell also has a handheld photo printer known as Wasabi - pungently spicy, we suppose. It is meant to work with your phone, digital camera or notebook, allowing you to make prints on the go.

Basically, Michael is touting that Dell can't be beat when it comes to personlization options, and it is hard to argue with him. Moving on to the Dell Studio Hybrid, it takes up to 80% less space and 70% less energy compared to desktop computers that have the same specifications within, making Dell well poised to make a splash in the green market.

"What a difference a year makes" - that's the opening statement by Michael. Some major milestones by Dell last year include a dedicated consumer business that has grown by leaps and bounds (over 30% in units and 10% in revenue), launching retail stores worldwide from 0 to over 20,000 locations, and having launched twice as many products in 2008 compared to 2007. Dell is also the first to offer personalization with the Design Studio line.

We're in the Dell Press Conference at the Palms now, and Michael Tatelman, Vice President of Consumer Sales & Marketing will take the stage in a moment's time to talk about the Evolution of Dell consumers. The press were treated to an omelette and juice bar prior to this, as we all know that a hungry (wo)man is an angry (wo)man, so kudos to Dell for that nice touch.
