Apple Could Have Outsold Android 6-to-1
Posted on Jan 20, 09 07:49 PM PDT

The iPhone 3G versus T-Mobile's G1 - it was supposed to unfold as a saga between two titans, but we guess the hype fizzled out with the latest sales estimates showing that Apple's device probably outsold the G1 by a ratio of nearly 6 to 1 in the US alone. While the ratio might be different in other places where both smartphones are available, we wouldn't waste good money by betting against the iPhone 3G considering its mass appeal worldwide. What do you think Google has to do in order to make their Android platform be more popular among the users? Right now, there are no real killer applications, and the appeal of the G1's design just isn't there. Well, it is still relatively early in the game, but we think handset manufacturers ought to come up with a killer form factor that does not sacrifice on functionality while Google shores up their Android platform for a potent partnership.
