Blockbuster and Sonic Solutions Offer Streaming Movies

Blockbuster has partnered with Sonic Solutions to offer streaming video movie rentals not only on PC, but also on a bunch of devices including televisions, Blu-Ray players and set top boxes.
After a short "yay!", you will quickly notice that the pricing is not really friendly: it won't be so different than renting a DVD - but it will save you a trip to the store, assuming that the video quality is the same. If I was ready to put down the money, I would seriously consider a Vudu box because the video is just awesome.
Not everything is lost - Blockbuster says that it might consider a subscription model in the future and points out that its selection of online movies is better than Netflix's (Netflix mainly has older stuff in its "watch Now" section). Oh, and Sonic Solutions lets you stream, but also download. That's useful for those who have a lower bandwidth (<3Mbps). [Reuters]
