LED Bulbs Costs £2, Lasts 60 Years
Posted on Jan 29, 09 05:26 PM PDT

With some people doing their part to go green these days for the sake of our planet's future, we are heartened to report that Cambridge University researchers have successfully developed cheap, light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs which light up the room brilliantly while sipping on very little juice. What's more, they cost a mere £2 each and have a lifespan of up to 60 years - if these ever get commonplace, you will find that a couple of generations from now, those folks will have to hire someone to change bulbs as the homeowner will probably lack the knowledge on doing so on his own. Smaller than a penny, the LED bulbs are a dozen times more efficient compared to standard tungsten bulbs, and are three times more efficient than fluorescent low-energy versions. These LED bulbs also do not contain mercury, so they're much easier to treat once they're disposed of. The lack of flicker in the LED bulbs will also bring a smile to the face of those who suffer from migraines and epileptic fits as well. Can't wait for these to go commercial!
