MSI Wind U120 (Hands-On)
Posted on Jan 9, 09 05:18 PM PDT

We had some time with the MSI Wind U120 Wimax Edition and we were glad to see that it is a nice netbook, with a superior construction quality when compared to the MSI Wind, the (older) Asus Eee or even the Samsung NC10. Below the surface, it is not so different from older netbooks in its category, but it has WiMax. “How fast is it?” you will ask. Unfortunately, this was just a tech demo and the WiMax base station was one yard away from the MSI YU120, so sure, it felt fast, but it can’t be an indication of real-life use.
The bottom-line: the attractiveness is up, the rest is marginally different (except for WiMax!) compared to older netbooks. Note that the U120 has been reported to be more difficult to upgrade (memory) then the MSI wind. Not a big deal, except if you’re a novice user.
