[CES 2009] Once used in enormous retro-projected TVs, LCOS (Liquid Crystal On silicon) now finds its way into micro projectors that fits in the palm of a hand. Despite its size, the Nextar Z10 can project an image that's 20" in diagonal - not bad for such a gizmo, but I think that I've seen micro-projectors that could display something bigger than that. As expected, the luminosity is low: only 7 to 12 lumens. The projector has a micro SD reader and is capable of showing the following type of files:
Video compatibility is provided for AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, RM/RMVB, ASF, FLV, and WMV9/VC1. Audio compatibility includes MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, APE, ALAC, and MPEG1/2/2.5. Picture compatibility is for images in BMP, JPEG, or GIF formats.
No PowerPoint reader :(. The Z10's size is 4.13” x 2.32” x 1.0” and it is priced at $299.99.
