Western Digital 2-Terabyte Hard Drive
Posted on Jan 27, 09 03:18 PM PDT

The arms race is revived today by Western Digital which is shipping its awaited 3.5" 2-terabyte hard drive. The WD Caviar Green 2TB retails for $299; 1.5TB and 1TB versions will also be available. I love the quote from Mark Geenen, president of Trend Focus "The 2 TB hard drives will continue to satisfy end user's insatiable desire to store more data on ever larger hard drives." Instead of an "insatiable desire" it is the "boring necessity" that pushes me to buy larger hard drives. Good marketing is also about not smoking your own dope... next time, what about "orgasmic data storage". For the full specs go to the Western Digital website.
