Asus MID Gets Slide Up Display
Posted on Feb 2, 09 01:54 AM PDT

Asus is the company that really got the netbook industry going with its seminal Eee PC 701 model, and today, we have numerous Eee PC netbooks that it is getting pretty challenging to keep track of the entire merry bunch. While other manufacturers are jumping on board the netbook bandwagon, could what you see here be a glimpse of what Asus has in store for the future? This MID patent application shows a full touch screen display for input, along with a hidden keyboard that reveals itself when you slide the display upwards. Not only that, the display itself can be tilted and repositioned just like a standard notebook. It is currently in the development stage and has been named "Portable Electronic Device" in its patent application. Do you think something like this will catch on in the future?
