Little Island Churns Out Robotic Mini Me
Posted on Feb 6, 09 07:26 AM PDT

If you're the type of person who hates those dolls that open their eyes when you pick them up from a sleeping position, chances are you'll run away from this idea that Little Island from Japan is trying to sell - send in a photo of yourself as well as two grand or so, and they will come up with a miniature robotic version of yourself, featuring your face stuck on the front of a plush toy. It functions as a text-to-speech converter and can be connected via Ethernet (what, no Wi-Fi?), reading out web content to you over its RSS feed. Not only that, it will speak in your own voice - now that's creepy no matter how you look at it.
