Palm Pre Runs Google Maps

[Mobile World Congress] MWC '09 has proved to be an extremely interesting affair thus far, and a demo this morning saw Google’s VP of engineering, Vic Gundotra, parading the Palm Pre that is running a webapp version of Google Maps that was completely coded in HTML5 from ground up, and it worked in the exact same manner as the native software. This is a really big achievement, as the application proved to support all the Pre’s multitouch navigation, alongside the regular search, zoom and other Google Maps functionality by taking advantage of the Webkit engine that the Pre’s browser uses. Guess the Palm Pre is shaping up quickly to be THE device to get this summer.
