New digital cameras have all kinds of smartness built in. They can recognize faces or even know if you smile. You might think that your camera manufacturer came up with all that, but chances are that they didn’t. Tessera is a company that creates image processing algorithms that are then licensed to many digital camera brands (that’s why they can all deploy such features very rapidly). Tessera is a business-to-business (B2B) company, that’s why you’ll probably never hear from them elsewhere. We thought that we should shed some light on these unsung consumer electronics heros.
