Toyota To Build Car From Seaweed
Posted on Feb 25, 09 08:57 PM PDT

Toyota is already at the forefront of green vehicle technology with their Prius, and this time round they're looking to construct a new ultralight, superefficient plug-in hybrid that has a chassis made out of seaweed. Doesn't sound too tough to me when it comes to crash tests, but we suppose that technology in this area will improve by leaps and bounds so that Toyota is able to achieve that target within the self-imposed 15 year period. This kelp car will be a vast improvement over the current hypergreen 1/X plug-in hybrid concept that tips the scales at just 926 pounds. Well, as long as cars are greener, cheaper and safe, we don't see any reason for it not to sell, never mind that it is made out of a snack that we really enjoy here at the office.
