Unofficial OS Updates For Storm 9500, 9530

How come unofficial OS updates for BlackBerrys seem to be the norm rather than exception these days? Well, for those who are using either the 9500 or the 9530, there are respective updates (albeit unofficial ones, so you know the drill about backing up your precious data before applying the new update lest everything important gets wiped out). This means the BlackBerry Storm 9500 has unofficially gone to OS 4.7.0.106, while the 9530 will hit the 4.7.0.103 mark. Has anyone tried these updates out yet, and what are some of the immediate improvements you have noticed?
