Cellphone Usage To Be Cut During The Recession

Cellphone customers are expected to cut their wireless expenses drastically during this recession. This is surely not a surprise: for most, "voice" is the "Killer app" and it is fair to say that many can go by without additions such as data plans, custom ringtones and unlimited texting. That's even more true if one has become unemployed recently.

The bottom-line is that wireless plans are really expensive ($60/month on average) and we're not even talking about stuff like "activations fees, service charges" and other addendums to the final monthly invoice. There's always the pay as you go plans, but make sure that you don't go over the limit because it might end up costing more.

In the end, we hope that wireless companies will stop thinking of their customers as milking cows and offer better services such as pay as you go wireless broadband or cheaper no-contract plans, such as the ones found in some European countries. [via computerworld]
