Fujitsu Siemens Plans For Zero Energy Computer
Posted on Mar 2, 09 08:52 AM PDT

Fujitsu Siemens Computers hope to roll out a new computer by the middle of this year (that's just three months or so away at worst) which will not sip a single iota of energy when turned off. Sounds crazy? Not really, as no matter how green a computer is by today's standards, they will still act as nasty little vampires even when turned off due to losses in the transformer or sensors which remain active, awaiting input from functions including remote power-on. A typical consumption amount for PCs when off currently stand at 1 watt and 4 watts, and to hit zero, consumers ought to unplug the power cord totally. Well, Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Esprimo 7935 hopes to change all that by achieving zero consumption without pulling the plug.
