Google Voice Announced
Posted on Mar 12, 09 07:18 PM PDT

Google looks like it has taken another ambitious step towards dominating the Internet. You may or may not have been following the news, but the Internet behemoth has previously acquired a startup called GrandCentral. The goal is basically to simplify the way people handle phone calls, voice mail and text messages. The service, which is now called Google Voice, allows users to route all their calls through a single number that can ring their home, work and mobile phones at the same time, giving users a single and easy-to-manage voice mail system for all their phone lines. Users will be able to make calls that are routed via the Internet for free in the US and for a small fee internationally. Currently the service is only available to GrandCentral subscribers, but Google has promised that the general public will be able to use it in the coming weeks. From Uberphones.
