Honda Brain Machine Interface

The first Brain Machine Interface in the world was the result of a joint collaboration between Honda Research Institute Japan Co., Ltd., Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) and Shimadzu Corporation. This device will utilize electroencephalography (EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to work in tandem with newly developed information extraction technology so that the human thought is poewrful enough to control a robot. We'd certainly hate for powerful and tough robots to be built in the future, imagine "mind hackers" actually using their enhanced brain power to control a tank of a robot to create havoc in town? While robots that are found in Macross and Matrix Revolutions are still a pipe dream, the Brain Machine Interface is a good place to start.
