Pentax X70 Has 24x Superzoom
Posted on Mar 3, 09 04:01 PM PDT

While the Pentax X70 does look like some sort of DSLR at first glance, it actually isn't - but it does come with an unprecedented 24x Superzoom, an is also the first in the world for a model of its class to feature 720p video recording. Guess digital cameras these days are hopping aboard the High Definition (HD) video bandwagon, so how will that affect the future of dedicated HD camcorders? Only time will tell, but let's talk about the X70 instead. It is equipped with a 26-624mm lens, a 12-megapixel sensor, a 2.7" LCD and "Triple Shake Reduction" image stabilization. Other features include an 11fps burst mode, face detection (up to 32 faces simultaneously - perfect for that extended family photo) and a macro mode that allows you to be as near as 1cm from the subject. HD video is shot at 15fps though, but you can double that amount by shooting at 480p, QVGA and VGA resolutions. Expect to see the Pentax X70 hit the streets this April for $400 thereabouts.
