Samsung Ships Smallest High Density Memory Modules

Samsung achieves yet another world's first by shipping the smallest high density memory module that is based on 2-gigabit (Gb), 50 nanometer (nm)-class DDR3. These modules will also comprise of 16GB registered inline memory module (RIMM) as well as an 8GB RDIMM (registered dual inline memory module). The former will run at 66 Mbps, enabling up to 192GB of total memory density for a 2-socket CPU server system. In addition, Samsung’s 16GB RDIMM module is also the world’s first to operate at 1.35 volts which results in using roughly 20% less power over 1.5V DDR3 solutions.
