So you've picked up a brand new Mac mini and wish that there was more hard drive space on it? Well, iFixit has released a new step-by-step tutorial that tutorial explaining how to swap out the new Mac Mini's optical drive for a second hard drive. You will need some degree of soldering skills as well as being extra careful around its internal wires and sensors, but thankfully the tutorial comes with large and clear images to help you along in your quest to mod a newly purchased Mac mini. iFixIt is also offering some help in the form of a 1TB, 5400RPM upgrade kit that retails for $250, featuring all the relevant tools and components you need for the project. DIY enthusiasts could do it for cheaper, but newbies might want to check out the pre-packaged unit.
