Transparent OLEDs From Philips
Posted on Mar 5, 09 07:07 PM PDT

The boffins at Philips Research are slowly but surely arriving at their goal of transparent OLEDs, and this time round the prototype will function as some sort of light application for windows. These OLED panels work as your standard window during the day, but when dusk falls, they can function as lights instead using two routes - imitating natural light or emitting attractive interior lighting. We know that these will surely catch on with plenty of interior designers when it is released for the mass market, although do expect early adopters to fork out a handsome premium. Philips is targeting a 3 year time frame at best before their transparent OLED panels will hit the market.
