Vuzix Announces Augmented Reality Kit
Posted on Mar 25, 09 11:01 AM PDT

Vuzix is no stranger to video headsets, and they have just announced a new augmented-reality (AR) add-on kit that will play nice with the Vuzix VR920 video headset. This system will be demonstrated with a 3D animated book initially, featuring computer-generated characters. Ultimately, Vuzix believes that the potential of this AR add-on kit will expand to the realm of gaming, education and travel. The AR Accessory Kit consists of two main components - the CamAR, which is essentially a USB camera which is mounted onto the standard Vuzix VR920 video headset, while the PhasAR wireless input controller is capable of recognizing movements with six-degrees of freedom, making it function as a 2D mouse and 3D virtual paint brush. No idea on an official release date or price yet though.
