Buyer Beware Where Sprint Treo Pro Is Concerned

You know that you want the Sprint Treo Pro badly even though everyone else tells you to wait for the Pre or pick up an iPhone 3G instead. Well, if you're adamant on having it your way, then make sure the device you purchase is powered by the official 1.04 ROM before parting with your hard-earned cash. Threads in the TreoCentral Treo Pro Forums show a whole lot of discussion concerning surrounding ROMs, especially the Sprint Treo Pros that were running on the pre-release 1.03 ROM instead. Since the 1.03 ROM is not the final, shipping ROM, your warranty might be useless since the serial number of the device will then be flagged as a 0-day warranty in the system. As at press time, Palm has yet to offer a ROM upgrade from 1.03 to 1.04, so make sure you go to Settings -> System -> About and tap the Phone tab to find out what ROM you're running on before making a purchase.
