Mount Everest To Get Cellphone Coverage
Posted on Apr 23, 09 11:49 AM PDT

Satellite phones will have a few less customers it seems as Nepal's telecommunications company is planning to install cell towers that will cover mount Everest. Climbers will be able to place calls on the way and at the top of the mountain. Normally, the installation work should start in mid-june, with an installation that supports both GSM and CDMA phones. Up to 3000 simultaneous calls could be handled at one, which is should be more than enough - at least when climbers are concerned. [via Republica]
