Gait Monitoring System
Posted on Apr 20, 09 08:29 AM PDT

Wonders never cease at higher institutions of learning as a partnership between University of Virginia engineers, clinicians, and the school's Institute of Aging, has learned to work together with AFrame Digital to develop a huge scale real-time gait monitoring system. The patient will wear sensors on the wrist, where these sensors will keep a keen eye out for declining walking ability in its wearer. It will gather data each time you walk and extrapolate it into the future which will then diagnose possible problems that might plague the wearer in due time. These sensors are currently in their 3rd generation of development, so we hope a commercial device is in the offing. After all, many perfectly healthy old folks die from falls after losing their balance, so a gait monitoring system would come in handy.
