G-Monster PCI-E based SSD Bypasses SATA to Offer Impressive Performance

Solid State Drives (SSD) might get faster, but one of the elements that block out their full potential is the fact that they currently run on an infrastructure build for mechanical drives. From I/O controllers to the OS code that reads and write, everything has been built and written for past technologies.
The G-Monster from PhotoFast attempts to bypass all that legacy stuff by connecting directly to a PCI-Express (PCI-E) port, just like high-performance devices such as graphics cards. By doing so, the G-Monster is supposed to achieve read and write speeds of 1000MB/sec, which is about three to five times faster than SATA solutions. Capacities vary from 128GB ($1600) to 1TB ($4500) and right now, we're not sure if you can boot from it or if a driver is needed. [live info from Japan, Previous post on the same topic]
