Nokia Ovi Store Not Welcomed By U.S Carriers

When we met with Nokia at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, we discussed about the Ovi store and how it would make things easy for carriers to customize and bill. Arguably, the billing part is very convenient to users as well, as micropayment has still not been worked out efficiently (with a few exceptions). In theory, wireless carriers would take a cut out of each payment for their troubles, but for some reason the idea is not getting traction in the U.S. Some suspect that U.S carriers are all dreaming about an Apple device on their networks. In the meantime, Nokia will go ahead in Europe with the support from several carriers. What do you think of the U.S carriers stance? Foolish or not?
