Wi-Fi Interdevice Connectivity In The Works
Posted on Apr 2, 09 09:09 PM PDT

Bluetooth technology has been the undisputed king of wireless connectivity between devices to date, but that could soon change if Wi-Fi encroaches on their territory. Apparently, the Wi-Fi Alliance is currently mulling over the idea of developing device-to-device Wi-Fi that ought to make tasks such as synchronizing, multimedia sharing, multiplayer gaming and other forms of gadget chatter a snap. Why is this idea extremely threatening to Bluetooth territory? The answer is pretty obvious - Wi-Fi offers a much larger data pipe compared to Bluetooth, and we hope the Wi-Fi Alliance makes good on their word with a 2010 release.
