Elgato Video Capture For Macs
Posted on May 8, 09 09:08 AM PDT

Elgato has rolled out its latest Mac-centric peripheral, the Video Capture which makes allowance for analog video recording from VCRs as well as sources to a digital format. This USB stick will be able to handle RCA, S-video and SCART footage, although the latter will require an adapter. Using Elgato's proprietary software, you can then convert the recorded footage to either H.264 or MPEG-4 formats, making an allowance to export it to iTunes or for editing purposes via software like iMovie. You can choose from 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen videos, and it is smart enough to tell the difference between international video standards like NTSC and PAL. You will need an Intel-based Mac that is powered by a Core Duo or better processor and Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later in order to take full advantage of the €100 Video Capture today.
