Sony X Series Walkman Announced

Published on 05/12/2009

Sony isn't about to throw in the towel just yet with its latest X-Series Walkman that holds the proud distinction of being the first Walkman to feature an OLED display, which will probably translate to superior image, a clearer picture and prolonged battery life. The OLED display also functions as a 3" touchscreen at 432 x 240 resolution, which is a tad smaller than its rival, the iPod touch. Sony also goes back to its Walkman roots by offering rich, wide bandwidth audio with ultra-low distortion alongside enhanced stereo separation, so make sure you're rocking to a pair of great headphones if you want to take full advantage of it. Of course, having a high bitrate MP3 file playing also won't hurt. Interestingly enough, it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to surf the Internet, watch YouTube and browse iPlayer content. The Sony X-Series Walkman will be out from tomorrow onwards, with the 16GB and 32GB models retailing for £209 and £279, respectively.
