Patients who use inhalers and want to remain connected to their health care providers can check out the Vena-enabled inhalers, where the Vena platform will utilize a couple of emerging wireless standards (IEEE11073 and Bluetooth Medical Device Profile), where both are embedded onto a single chip to be used as a compatible medium of exchange between various devices, transmitting medical data under a cloak of security so that the patient's information will not be compromised. The inhalers will remain connected to an online personal health care application through the use of a smartphone or computer, where it will also be able to remind patients of the times to take their treatment. Patients who behave well will have their compliance information sent to the personal health care location online. No idea on when this will be made available to patients, but we hope soon is the buzzword.
