Intel and Nokia To Unite On Mobile Devices?

Bloomberg believes that Nokia and Intel will announce a significant deal between the two companies tomorrow morning. The information comes from "a person familiar with the matter" and this is reinforced by the fact that Intel does have an mobility announcement scheduled for tomorrow, It's an "important" announcement, apparently.

It's hard to guess what is really going to happen tomorrow morning, but there aren't many options either: current Atom chips could go into an MID like the Nokia 800 Tablet devices. The next-gen Atom chips will consume much less power, but we don't expect them to be introduced for a while (Feb 2010?). Then there's a long-term commitment for handset processors, but that seems a bit premature, because we would be surpised if Intel was already showing anything beyond Moorestown.

Finally, don't forget that Intel and Nokia are working together on oFono, a Linux-based OS for mobile devices. Come back to Ubergizmo tomorrow at 8:30am PT to know.
