Intel Makes Mobile More Mobile @ Computex

Intel will be busy showing new prototypes and partners at Computex as the company officially launched new chips: the T9900, P9700, P8800, SU2700 processors and GS40 chipset. On the high-end, the T9900 will go slightly beyond 3Ghz and becomes the top of the line dual-core CPU for laptops. The P9700 and P8800 are “performance kickers” that pack copious amount of super-fast cache memory.
The SU2700 processor is aimed at ultra-thin laptops, which is where Intel predicts a “boom” for 2009. And in this area, decent performance is important, but low-power is the name of the game. Everyone is still trying to find what the best power/performance ratio is (to get customers to open their wallet), but Intel does know that customers are willing to pay for thin, light and low-power, so the company will relentlessly be working on improving these key metrics.
