microUSB Phone Charger Standard Agreed Upon

This was certainly a long time in coming, but boy are we glad to see it finally happen. Nokia, Samsung, Apple and other notable cellphone manufacturers have agreed to adopt a standard microUSB phone charger sometime next year, with the new universal charger looking likely to make an impact in Europe as early as next year. The other companies in the mix include LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Research in Motion, NEC, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments - we wonder how about HP and HTC? Seems that these new chargers will work only with data-enabled handsets, so basic phones will still be stuck with their proprietary chargers. Well, at least you don't have to worry too much about incompatible chargers when traveling to another country now.
