Posted on Jun 18, 09 05:53 PM PDT

Most people would have thought that National Geographic would just stick to making documentaries, but here they are teamed up with Cellular Abroad to release the new dual SIM handset known as National Geographic Duet Travel Phone, aka model D888. Targeting the international traveler, this wielding this model won't be able to render you immunity to poisonous animals if you stumble across them, but instead will be equipped with a National Geographic pay-as-you-go SIM card, enabling you to make affordable calls from at least 185 countries while receiving free calls in over 80 countries. Most countries will also offer you 30 minutes of outgoing call credit, while the handset itself supports a secondary SIM card of your choice. There is no 3G connection here though, and the Duet has only tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900MHz). Other features of this wild phone include a 2.8" QVGA display, mobile TV support, an integrated FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD memory card slot, VGA camera and pre-loaded National Geographic content. You willing to fork out $199 for this?
