Windows 7 E Misses Out On Internet Explorer
Posted on Jun 11, 09 09:20 PM PDT

Folks living in Europe will be able to choose from a couple of versions where the upcoming Windows 7 is concerned. This operating system has been dubbed Windows 7 E and will leave out Internet Explorer (IE) as well as other browsers so as to offer users a free hand in choosing their browser of choice. Microsoft aims to get around this regulation by offering free copies of IE8 to OEMs, where consumers will be able to choose their own copies through a variety of methods including CD, FTP or retail channels. No doubt this will affect IE's market share in the browser wars, but we don't know by how much a degree.
