Windows 7 Pricing Unveiled

First we have the packaging details, and now the pricing. Time to start saving up if you want to bring home a copy of Windows 7 when it is released in due time. Depending on which route you take, you could end up paying nothing for Windows 7 if it comes as a free upgrade whenever purchasing a new computer, or $50 for Windows 7 Home Premium and double that amount for Windows 7 Professional . If you're interested in the free upgrade (who isn't), it might be prudent to pick up a PC from this Friday onwards, as that would be covered under a free upgrade plan. As for the rest, we've broken them down to easy to read points.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium - $120 (upgrade) and $200 (full version)
  • Windows 7 Professional - $200 (upgrade) and $300 (full version)
  • Windows 7 Ultimate - $220 (upgrade) and $320 (full version)

Just to make sure you understand the term "upgrade", it would require you running a version of Windows on your computer, while the full version targets those building a system from scratch.
