CASBliP, also known as Cognitive Aid System for Blind People is a work in progress that aims at using visual sensors to help the visually impaired. People who could benefit from CASBliP range from those who see very little to totally blind persons. The system can either amplify visual stimuli (by enhancing contrasts, colors etc...) or turn visual/obstacle information into sounds that can be interpreted by the wearer.
The project is developed as a collaborative European project that involves many engineering schools and universities. [the engineer]
