Currently, the Mini DisplayPort does not come with audio, hence you will normally need another cable to get sound whenever you output video to an HDTV over HDMI. The Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter offers the best of both worlds with just a single cable, making sure you get audio as well as 1080p resolution video. Not exactly as elegant if Apple were to come up with a HDMI-out in their line of MacBooks, but it is better than nothing.
