Microsoft Office 2010 Officially Leaked

Published on 07/13/2009

Microsoft shows again its leaky PR management skills by letting information about go public hours before the deadline (SilverLight 3 got the same privilege last week). The more interesting point is that Office Web is going after Google Docs in the "free app" space, with a "lighter" (how light?) web version that should contain all the basic features that most people need. We expect Microsoft to do pretty well against Google Docs if they can reproduce a web environment that is somewhat familiar with what users already know on the desktop.

If you have been annoying colleagues by sending huge PowerPoint files, a new sharing features will let you send a link that will point to an online version. This will make leaking information even easier and more convenient than ever before.
