Modu launches its first phone
Posted on Jul 23, 09 10:59 AM PDT

Back in February, Modu was drawing attention because they were showing a cute little phone at Mobile World Congress. It is now on the market and has already been the object of a hands-on by mobo, an Israeli website. The phone design is very basic: 2.5G, no WIFI... the interesting thing about it is that the phone is actually made of two pieces: the "module" that contains all the smartness, and the "jacket, which is a physical shell. You can sneak the phone into a new "jacket" whenever you please, depending on your mood.
Right now the available jackets are a little too "basic" to show the full potential of the concept, but here are more examples. It is relatively cheap: $130 for a Modu with one jacket. What do you think?
