Sony has just announced the DVDirect VDR-MC6 that is set to oust the VDR-MC5 DVD recorder from its current market position. This new model will enable the transfer of SD and HD videos as well as photos straight from your camera to DVDs without having to own a PC as a middleperson. Despite being smaller than its predecessor, it will come with a larger 2.7" LCD display. Features include the latent ability to transfer videos in HD and SD to your Sony Handycam or USB flash drive directly, a quartet of background presets, an auto-chapter feature and the ability to write to 8.5GB DVD+R discs. To further enhance your viewing experience, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios has been included in the $229 DVDirect VDR-MC6 when it rolls out this September.
