FCC investigates carrier competition, will most likely lead to nothing

"We are now in the midst of a transition from reliance on mobile voice services to increasing use of and reliance on mobile broadband services, which promise to connect American citizens in new and profound ways. A robustly competitive mobile wireless market will be essential to realizing the full benefits to American consumers and channeling investment into vitally important national infrastructure. The FCC is seeking to ensure that competition in the mobile wireless market continues to bring substantial benefits to American consumers." (FCC)
Here's another grand FCC idea about "making things better" for the consumer, but for one, it's been their job all along and the result isn't pretty. Look at your wireless bills: if you use any kind of nationwide plan, they have probably inflated over the years. Wireless broadband pricing is particularly laughable. Carriers have mostly aligned prices and it's hard to say that there is intense competition among them. Many people just choose a carrier based on what signal is getting into their homes. Here’s another FAIL from the FCC.
