Samsung talks about Android phones 'well under $100'
Posted on Aug 6, 09 06:31 PM PDT

During this morning's announcement of the Sprint Samsung Reclaim, the product manager of the Reclaim (Casey Ryan) was quoted saying that a year from now, touch phones running Android will be available for well under $100.
Cheaper is often better (for us), but we think that Casey Ryan was talking about subsidized prices here. In which case, it's only mildly surprising. By next year, a phone like the MyTouch 3G will cost a lot less than it does now as that level of capabilities slides towards the low-end.
Overall, that's great because if Android was to become some kind of "minimal level of usability" for phones, it would lift the whole industry up.
