Sony Ericsson could release smartbook
Posted on Aug 10, 09 09:45 PM PDT

Sony Ericsson doesn't seem ready to branch out to other hardware markets, although they have been edging towards the personal computing niche with their XPERIA X1 smartphone. Word has it that the handset manufacturer is raring to go on a new smartbook, powered by an ARM processor while offering superior battery life and mobile broadband connectivity compared to a netbook, coming in a slim form factor. It won't run on the full Windows operating system though due to hardware limitations, and will definitely be less powerful than a standard netbook. There is no official word from Sony Ericsson on this matter just yet, but let us hope that they will issue a statement concerning its existence (or not) to quell any rumors making their rounds.
