Wii football accessory patent

Has the folks at Nintendo lost their marbles, or do they think that gamers will latch on to any idea that doesn’t require a controller? Apparently so if this patent has anything to do with the future shape of gaming – Nintendo dreamt up of this idea of a football accessory that can hold a Wiimote and nunchuk, where it will then determine throwing angle, power and direction while sensing body movements that will be translated to on-screen action. Expect many more broken TVs if this ever hits the market, since burly men who love football (the American kind) too much wouldn’t want to sully the memory of the game by having one of these faux pigskins strapped to their hands, right?
